The volvo broke down, it’s clutch gave out. As a company car I’ve been given a Hyundai I10 for temporary use. It’s actually quite a funny little thing, but definitely still in the category of grocery getters.

Unexpected pro’s:
Downsides
Cruise Control
At higher volume (50/100) in corners the speakers can physically rattle
Android Auto
above 100 km/h it lacks power (63 ponies, duh)
Electronic (folding) mirrors
So many “ assistance” beeps, and it always turns them back on after use (regulations, I know.)
Okay audio (definitely not good, but better than expected)
Lane keep assist will drive in the middle of the roads on dutch country side roads that have no center line
A little bit of steering nudge in the lane assist It’s got the possibility to turn on lane keep assist on the steering wheel, keeping in in the dead center of the lane. Impressive.
Trunk release on the key fob does nothing except blink the lights.

I’ve traded in this little thing for the Fiesta. Over the past time I’ve gotten some perspective on the i10, but also driving the Fiesta gives an interesting comparison.
The i10 was small and sturdy for it’s driving. It all felt very asian, it was tight. The controlls were well thought out, less = more. It’s Lane keep assist was actually amazing, the infotainment was android auto and now that I’m going back to an old non-android auto system, wow that’s a really nice luxury.
It’s seating was still very cheap, the sound system was very cheap, but it’s driving & design was really well done.

For such a small car it still turned out to be quite practical, and once again it was just simple & smart design. I did end up fitting an entire shelve cabinet in it.
The car with the shelve in it, fun fact, the rear seat backrest wasn’t even down

The shelve that was transported, okay kudo’s must be given where they’re due, old IKEA stuff is very practical and transportable. (Enetri - IKEA by Niels Gammelgaard)

I’m going to miss it, I’ve got more comfort now with the Fiesta, but definitely a less refined car. Going from Asian to American and I can feel it.
